A Very Informative Book
For all those interested in growing a beautiful water garden, or scientifically studying water flowers and other plants, this is the book for you. You don't need to look any further. A series of lovely pictures are also included, but the cover has the most beauteous photograph.

Water Gardening : Water Lilies and Lotuses
A very good book for those interested in water gardening. Has an excellent supply of pictures, names, and information of hundreds of water gardening plants. The Book has 2 sections of color photos and all are very nice. The book did a great job informing me about plants I never new existed. The book also includes information on filters, ponds (design and placement), diseases (pond, plants, and fish), and numerous other issues. A very good book and I would recommend it to any water gardener, novice, pro, advanced, or expert.

Winning Communication Skills 4 CD Audio Program
Published in Audio CD by JM Perry Corporation (20 February, 1997)
Author: Dr J Mitchell Perry
Average review score:

what i needed for a start
it was a really good course to learn some of the basics, change some of my bad habbits. certainly, it took me one (or two) steps ahead. i recommend not only for managers but also for anyone who wants to improve his interaction with others.

Changing the way you communicate
Dr. Perry's Winning Communication Skills have been immediately helpful for me in interacting with people and has helped eliminate some negative and detrimental psychology. The 4-cd packet is broken up well into 4 categories: 1. Listening. 2. Speaking. 3. Reducing resistance. 4. Handling conflict. Each disc has terrific insight into so many of our communication flaws in our daily life. This series has definitely challenged and improved the way I communicate. It is a wise investment for anyone who is interested in improving the way they interact with others. I especially like the fact that he separated the tracks into small categories, which makes it very useful and easy to refer back to a specific section. For example, one of the Cds has like 28 tracks on it. The only negative comment I have is the fact that the sound quality is not great, at times. The volume changes occasionally so you must adjust the volume on your stereo. Overall, the series is more than worth the investment.

The Word of a Prince: A Life of Elizabeth I from Contemporary Documents
Published in Paperback by Boydell & Brewer (March, 1996)
Author: Maria Perry
Average review score:

Good for some, not for other - you decide!
I read this book in a History class of the Tudor-Stuart period in college. While I found the book interesting, many others did not. The book combines documents by Elizabeth herself, many rare or hard to find and of a personal nature, and secondary source comentaty. The book gives an often unheard naritive of Elizabeth I's childhood, accendancy, and reign.

One problem that many other students found in my class was the constant personal narritives given by the author. While at times they are quite dramatic and through provoking, they are often biased and pure speculation (yet presented as fact). Some issues and events are taken someone out of context or presented in a slanted view.

While I would definatly recomend this book to anyone wanting to know more and about Elizabeth I, I must caution the reader to question some of the evidence and speculation given in the book. The reader must constantly be on the look out for things that may be biased. This book does make an excellent read for the amature historian, but like all historical books, do not base all your knowledge on this one work.

I'm confused.
I've never read this book before, But someone that has, Could u tell me why in the world it says The World of a *Prince*? Because shes a princess.

Academies, Museums and Canons of Art
Published in Paperback by Yale Univ Pr (January, 1999)
Authors: Gill Perry and Colin Cunningham

A Different Sort of Refresher Course
Honestly, I picked up this book because of gorgeous reproductions. And because it focuses on English institutions and art--not my strongest suite. But each chapter not only refreshed my basic knowledge of art history but reminded and educated me of the many factors that play into the shaping of the discipline, from royal schools to government decrees. Most interesting was the way the authors researched how museum collections are formed by not only taste and education but also politics and monetary factors. These should be obvious, but sometimes the cleaness of an exhibition wipes away the history of why an artwork was chosen, why it is displayed in a certain manner, and why a museum may, or may not, promote their collections.

Aia Guide to Chicago
Published in Hardcover by Harcourt (June, 1993)
Authors: Alice Sinkevitch, Laurie McGovern Petersen, American Institute of Architects Chicago Chapter, Chicago Architecture Foundation, Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois, and Perry R. Duis
Average review score:

a solid, valuable visual guide to Chicago's architecture
Chicago is generally known as one of the centers of modernist architecture, and this visual guidebook, complete with maps, photographs and authoritative little essays on most of the important buildings, is a must-buy if you plan to tour this richly textured urban center. It's also one of the best small resources for anyone interested in architecture from 1850 to the present. Inexpensive, designed to slip in your pocket, it holds up well-- I depend upon mine to help me with the walking tours of the city I give on a regular basis, and it's still in one piece after three or more years of hard use.

Barbie ABC Book

Barbie is annoying, but...
My 6 year old saw this book on clearance and insisted on buying it with her birthday money even though she knew how to read well. It kept her entertained for well over an hour and we both enjoyed the colorful engaging photographs and learned some new words. Any Barbie fan who is an emergent reader might enjoy this, as well as toddlers just beginning to learn their alphabet. We really enjoy DK books. Note: This book is VERY big.

Basic Patrol Procedures: A Foundation for the Law Enforcement Student: A Review for the Veteran Officer
Published in Paperback by Sheffield Publishing Company (October, 1993)
Author: Tim Perry
Average review score:

Good supplemental text
The author uses a wealth of field experience, practical guidelines, and hypothetical scenarios to supplement the instructional material. There are also plenty of diagrams, pictures, and explanatory notes.

This is a required text for my students and should be for all police agencies wishing to give insightful yet full instruction to their students.

I've seen larger books cover less material and do it with less effectiveness. This is a GREAT book in its price range, and for that matter in the range of more expensive books.

Blue Bug Goes to School
Published in Paperback by Children's Book Press (May, 1985)
Authors: Virginia Poulet and Peggy Perry Anderson
Average review score:

Fun for the preschool set
I brought this title home from the library for my two year old son. He instantly fell in love with it! I said, "What do you think this book is about?" He said, "Bug". I said, "What kind of bug," and he replied, "Blue Bug". From then on he was hooked. This brightly colored book is filled with familiar school objects, and assists in teaching colors, letters, and numbers. It would be a valuable addition to any preschool or home.

Bones of Contention
Published in Paperback by Commonwealth Pubns Inc (November, 1996)
Authors: C. Martin Perry and Martin C. Perry
Average review score:

Spectacular find!
Wow is the only word I can fathom using to describe this book. Bones of contention hits on every aspect of the aspects of human origins. From spectacular passages of intelligent prose to riveting scientific evidence, this is a must read! The only fault though is the wavering focus of the book. This though does not hinder the reader as much as would be thought. It's contents are factual and full of depth! Recomended to all scientists or individuals with a heart for truth!
